Individual Project: Modeling, Texturing, Lighting, Rendering

In my first animation class, we learned the basics of 3D art with a semester long project focused on hard surface modeling, creating clean UVs, and deriving PBR image maps from stock images in Photoshop. For this assignment, we chose a "Lonely Robot" illustration from the collection by illustrator Matt Dixon. Since I was particularly enthusiastic starting out in 3D, I chose to model two lonely robots in a diner set, with the original concept arts displayed below. All of the models were created using Maya, the textures were created from stock materials from Textures.com before being edited in Photoshop,  and the renders were produced using Arnold. Framed pictures on the walls of the diner feature other "Lonely Robot" illustrations by Matt Dixon as well.
